Day 100 - Santiago - David

Distance travelled (by bike): 10,230

Again leaving early to get to try and reach David before the heat really kicked in. After Santiago it seemed that the advertising agencies had given up. As the road started winding though the mountains and the scenery opened up. we were stopped once by the army to check our papers, other than that a carafe ride until we hit the outskirts of david.
It was here that Holly tapped me on the shoulder and told me she was starting to see black and might pass out! hurray! Quickly pulling to the side of the road she jumped off and laid down and started glugging water. After ten minutes we were on the move again, luckily it was only 20 minutes to the hostel.
A little later, after reassuring me she was ok we strolled into town to get provisions. I found here crawling into the freezer at the supermarket, heat and dehydration taking effect, not good. After 30 minutes of ploughing chocolate, water and coke into her, some of the colour had returned to her face, we quickly walked back to the hostel. Hopefully drama over!
