Day 65 - Galapagos (Bartolome)

Leaving quito early to get the flight out to the Islands via Guayaquil. when we left Quito the temperature was 6 degrees and raining, arriving at the  (Santa Cruz) the temp was 28 with no clouds in the sky, good start. from he Airport we we shuttled to the boat, after a brief period to relax and get settled we were briefed on the first excursion.
Bartolome island is one of the lower islands resulting in very low rainfall. The island is arid with sparse vegetation that has adapted to the environment. After a hour snorkelling though the waters seeing a huge variety of marine life and the Galapagos penguins we set off on a hike to the highest part of the island, on the way encountering 6 hawks. For those that have seenthe film Master & Commander this is the main islands the movie was shot on.
