Leaving Vegas at 7am to get a good start to the day, though for the next week i'll (we'll) be driving, not riding. It turned out to be a long day, driving about 600 miles, taking 12 hours. Which was not intentional, Suki had planned the route, it was shorter and quicker, but i decided we should take the scenic route, having not seen me for a while, and been my parents they agreed. The deadline set by a meeting before we go rafting tomorrow.
Heading north from Vegas we drove through the Valley of Fire national park, at 9am the temperature was creeping passed 93 degrees. Stunning scenery, but that was just the start! from there we drove on to Zion National Park, then up through Bryce Canyon. The scenery was unreal, even surreal. The colours, structures the scale all over whelming.
Leaving Bryce we drove route 12, one of the best roads i have driven in a long time, the scenery changed over 10 times, at times i was expecting to see the cowboys riding over the hills.
With time pressing we motored on to Moab. Only just getting there on time having forgotten the time change we headed straight to the rafting company for our briefing before we embark on a level 5 (the highest, so i was told) rafting trip for the next couple of days.
